Contraption Challenge 13: Submarine

We're starting fairly simple and asking you to make a contraption that can swim underwater. It doesn't have to look like a "typical" submarine; it could be a robotic shark, an underwater car, even a scuba diving rocket cheetah - as long as it swims underwater, the more creative it is the better! Here are the requirements: * Sackboy has to be able to enter and exit the contraption out of the water. * Sackboy must control it from within the driver's seat - no remote control. * It needs to be able to travel in all directions underwater. * It should behave differently when not underwater. This could simply just be making it float on the surface so that...

Own a piece of LittleBigPlanet history or buy your way into royalty

Own a piece of LittleBigPlanet history! Four of our five auctions are for framed original concept sketches, each with a signed copy of LittleBigPlanet 2… We have framed four pieces of artwork by Francis, the chief creator of Sackboy. They show some ideas for the development of our beloved hessian chum, and if we may be so bold, each one is a piece of gaming history. In the words of Indiana Jones, they belong in a museum! There are four of these pieces of artwork, each one is different, and as they are the originals, they unique. Each framed sketch comes with a very special copy of LittleBigPlanet comes with a special uber rare ‘Mm Special edition’ box art slip...

LittleBigPlanet 2 launch week fun – TV ad, new trailer, out now in UK & Ireland!

Launch Trailer First of all, we’ve got a new trailer to celebrate the launch of LittleBigPlanet 2 – it’s a tribute to the history of videogaming, told from Sackboy’s own unique perspective. All the levels shown in the trailer were also created by community members GruntosUK and jackofcourse . Advertising Campaign On top of that, I thought I’d give you all a look at the LBP 2 advertising campaign. Now, the LBP 2 Story mode is fantastic fun – as you’ve all hopefully spotted already from the numerous other trailers we’ve released. But for the launch of the game, we wanted to turn the spotlight on another hugely important part of the LittleBigPlanet universe – the community. With more than...

The LittleBigMap

The LittleBigMap collates together LBP discussions and content from across the web, and plots some of the latest and best videos, pics and tweets on a handy and familiar map interface. So, at a glance you can see that thousands of people are contributing to the LBP community from all over the world – and then you can zoom in, navigate around and take a look at some of the content they’re sharing. There are some nice photos in Hawaii, for starters. :) The extra cool thing is – the LittleBigMap notices when lbp.me URLs are included in video descriptions, screenshots and tweets, and automatically pulls in stats and information about that level. It’s another way of discovering the most...

Today LittleBigPlanet PSP celebrates its first birthday!

So, where are we a year after the game's release? Well, the Community Moon now contains over 130,000 community levels, with well over 1,500 published every week, some of which are of truly exceptional quality. The LBP PSP community is thriving, with strong communication and support between creators; we're on our seventh community competition, with creators running each one very professionally, as well as coming up with cool ideas for themes; and collaborations like the mighty 'Kindred' and the '12 Days of Christmas' have taken us by surprise with their remarkable dedication and organisation. A community this passionate is something very special indeed, and the SCE Cambridge Studio greatly appreciates all the amazing talent and energy that the community creators...

LittleBigPlanet Contraption Challenge 12

Your Exterminator could be anything! From a machine that chases Sackboy and destroys everything in its path, to an evil spaghetti-monster with multiple attack phases. The crazier and more original your idea, the better – but it should certainly inspire Sackboy to run like his little life depends on it. To take part in our challenge, just troop on over to the Official PlayStation EU Community forums . There, you can find all the instructions you need to enter the competition. The challenge is open now, so get to it! Oh, and Big news for Irish entrants! Courtesy of SCE Ireland, the...

New servers bring new features!

Cool Levels Cool Levels and Highest Rated now work slightly differently, and also need a little bit of time to settle down, so may look weird for a few days. The new servers allow us to tweak the way that Cool Levels works much faster than before, so we may play around with it a bit to get it working just the way we want it! MmPicks If you look under the new MmPicks Search category, you’ll find a selection of our favourite levels. The current selection has been taken from the Media Molecule blog, and we will be adding to it over time. Enjoy! Play Queues Queues are now active in LittleBigPlanet! LBPC PSP Creator Spotlight - Jeffcu28

Jeffcu28 Art can take many forms. It can be a beautiful painting, a thought-provoking sculpture, or a moving composition of music. It's not often one thinks of video games when the word "art" is brought up, even less so when it comes to handheld games. Enter Jeffcu28 : Calm, collected, well-spoken, and absolutely determined to change the world's mind about what form an artist's canvas might take. Since the release of LittleBigPlanet PSP in November 2009, Jeffcu28 has treated us to some of the most incredible and varied levels we could possibly imagine. We've bounded across giant flowers, watched a level being painted right before our little button eyes, and experienced the vengeful sadness of a love story gone terribly...
