Introducing the community project: Hansel & Gretelbot

Hansel & Gretelbot is the creation of 12 community members, names you may well recognise: Wexfordian , Comphermc , Morgana25 , rtm223, Hilightnotes , xkappax , Catiers , GruntosUK , CENTURION24 , Jaeyden , Cuzfeeshe and steve_big_guns . A few months ago the Community Molecule set them a challenge - could they create a full game experience? Their own complete LBP Theme, using the new LBP2 tools to develop all original story, mini-games, bosses, cutscenes, music, and voices. LittleBigPlanet Contraption Challenge 12

Your Exterminator could be anything! From a machine that chases Sackboy and destroys everything in its path, to an evil spaghetti-monster with multiple attack phases. Think of it as a boss or an enemy but without the need for Sackboy to fight back. The crazier and more original your idea, the better – but it should certainly inspire Sackboy to run like his little life depends on it. Aankondiging LittleBigPlanet 2'

Kom erbij Sack-lui, en zet je oren open. We willen graag iets vertellen. Ga lekker zitten, haal even diep adem en kijk hier eens naar: onze gloednieuwe game LittleBigPlanet 2! We zijn er in het geheim al een tijdje mee bezig. Niet verder vertellen, je kent het wel. We vinden het geweldig dat we eindelijk een tipje van de sluier kunnen oplichten en jullie mogen laten zien waar we de afgelopen paar jaar zo hard aan hebben gewerkt. Er is zo veel te vertellen over alle nieuwe tools en voorwerpen die je de ultieme creatieve vrijheid geven. Je kunt er alles mee bouwen. Niet alleen levels, maar zelfs hele games!

‘Turbo! Pack’ Development Diary 6: ‘Hopping Mad’

Like all our other vehicles, the pogostick itself is a 3D object. There was quite a lot of head-scratching over the design to start with because obviously if we made one that was realistically proportioned then it would be about half the height of your Sackperson. In other words, ridiculously tiny. We think our solution works pretty well however! For something so simple, this level is a real success. It just goes to show that you don’t have to make something massively complicated for it to be fun! Remember though, that when decorating, less is sometimes more. Don’t go too crazy with your stickers and materials just because you can. Now, what are you waiting for? Hop to it!

*If you could list your favorite thing about LittleBigPlanet, what would it be?* My favorite thing about the game is that you have this wonderful set of tools to express yourself creatively. You can tell stories, make beautiful images or scenes, create characters and any number of other things that are uniquely you. I really love that it brings artsy, creative types and logical, engineering types together too. The mix of art and science doesn't happen enough in real life.
